Our Role

Our mission is to provide the World's Best Powertrains. Over 36,000 engines and 32,000 transmissions are produced daily in our manufacturing operations. The GM Powertrain Group has 25 engine plants, 19 transmission plants, 9 casting and component plants and 23 engineering centers in 18 countries, with a global corporate headquarters in Pontiac, Michigan.
GM offers 17 vehicles with 30 mpg or better highway fuel economy, which is more than any other automaker in the business.
