Here, corporate responsibility is more than words. Our actions shape our reputation. We want to motivate the next generation of engineers, designers, and manufacturing visionaries. That's why we've built student content and classroom-ready lesson plans to inspire students to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers.

Diversity is our strength. Our people are everywhere – six continents, 200 countries, every time zone, and we speak more than 100 languages. Our mission is to create a culture based upon inclusion, mutual respect, responsibility, and understanding.

Our team reflects the multicultural world in which we live – a critical link between the workplace and the marketplace. Our talents and diverse perspectives help drive innovation, understand the global marketplace, develop superior products, and deliver better services.

GM's Diversity Vision is: "A winning culture of inclusion that naturally enables GM employees, suppliers, dealers, and communities to fully contribute in the pursuit of total customer enthusiasm."

We strive to make more environmentally friendly facilities, from building design and maintenance of wildlife habitats on our property, to redevelopment of Brownfield sites. While we're making bold strides toward more fuel-efficient vehicles, we're also taking our knowledge and making investments in our future, we have the largest rooftop solar panel installation in the world, which helps us utilize alternative energy – giving future generations a cleaner future.

GM Foundation

Started in 1976, the GM Foundation ensures we continue to make an impact outside our facilities. Our commitment to supporting organizations and programs is real and long lasting, with the goal of improving the quality of life of the people in our communities.

We support four major areas: education, health and human services, environment and energy, and community development. Currently, we contribute $4.5 million in annual scholarships to 1,100 students. And the best part? These $25,000 annual scholarships are renewable for up to four years, potentially making the value of the scholarship worth up to $100,000.

GM Global Aid

Delivering aid wherever it is needed, financial support from the GM Foundation enables the American Red Cross to purchase supplies and rush relief services to communities affected by natural disasters. When tragedy strikes, the Red Cross mobilizes volunteers and supplies to affected areas to shelter, feed, and provide emotional support to victims and emergency personnel.

Since its inception in 2000, GM Global Aid facilitates millions of dollars in donations for disaster relief worldwide. Through this program, GM and our national and international business units, as well as the GM Foundation, quickly direct vehicles, services, supplies, and monetary contributions to charitable organizations. Our employees and others worldwide contribute funds to disaster relief efforts, an essential component to the success of Global Aid.

Most recently, we gave assistance for many natural disasters, including:

  • 2013: The GM Foundation and Chevrolet helped Forgotten Harvest feed residents of Oklahoma City in the wake of the devastating tornado that ripped through the area.
  • 2013: The General Motors Foundation is providing a $100,000 grant to the American Red Cross to aid emergency management officials with relief efforts, provide shelter and meals to those in need, and help the organization prepare for and respond to disasters in Texas.
  • 2013: Chevrolet donated 50 Silverado full-size pickup trucks and Express cargo vans to the American Red Cross for use in relief and recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy.
  • 2013: The General Motors Foundation is providing a $100,000 grant to the Red Cross to aid emergency management officials with relief efforts in the Philippines devastated by Typhoon Haiyan. Funds will provide shelter, meals, and supplies for people and families in need.
  • 2011: The GM Foundation donated more than $500,000 to Japan to help with the tsunami relief effort.
  • 2011: GM Global Aid gave $200,000 to earthquake relief efforts in Christchurch, New Zealand.
