General Motors Indonesia Milestone:

In 1990

  • Re-enter Indonesia via opening a rep office under the GMODC structure
  • No manufacturing facilities – affiliated with the local sole agent

1993 – 1997

  • Formed JV with the local sole Agent (60:40) to form GM Buana Indonesia (access to manufacturing facilities)
  • Continue to assemble Isuzu product and re-badged as Chevrolet Trooper
  • ‘95 - Introduced the Opel Vectra & Optima (Astra) – stopped in ‘96 &’97 (National Car Policy)
  • ‘96 - Introduced RHD Blazer badged OPEL

1997 – 2004

  • Become 100% FDI by purchasing the 40% share from the JV Partner and became GM Indonesia
  • Introduced SUP vehicle – Chevrolet Zafira (Thailand) and Subaru (Japan) in addition to the Blazer CKD production
  • ‘00 Transition from Opel to Chevrolet hence additional product Aveo & Spark (DAT), Optra & Estate (Thailand)

2005

  • Discontinue the CKD manufacturing of the Blazer and mothballed the Plant Facilities
  • Laid off majority of the work force (directly related to Manufacturing)
  • Transition to Distribution (NSC) – GM Autoworld Indonesia

2006 – 2010

  • Fully operation under the NSC organization
  • Introduced the New SUV Captiva – Instant HIT to the market and lifted up the CHEVROLET image
  • Taxi Fleet Penetration – with T250
  • Start reactivation of GM Indonesia Manufacturing

2011 - 2012

  • Ground breaking GM Indonesia Manufacturing
  • GM Indonesia & GM Indonesia Manufacturing established

2013

  • Grand Opening GM Indonesia Manufacturing (GMIM)
  • Chevrolet “SPIN” First GMIM Product Launch

2014

  • ISO 9001:2004 Certification
  • Build In Quality level 3 Certification
